Located on the third floor of the Clearihue Building in room C305, the Commons evokes the spirit of its original architectural design as the heart of the Faculty of Humanities. The space is freely available for Humanities Faculty and Students for booking events, in consultation with the Commons Director.
The space is divided into two sections:
A multimodal space accommodating up to 50 people, equipped with accessible meeting technology, including ceiling-mounted microphones, an 180-degree camera, and whiteboard screen. The Critical Encounter speaker series will be hosted here, along with other Commons programming. Seating can be reconfigured to match event needs as required.
A welcoming collective area designed for informal social gatherings, open dialogue, and interdisciplinary exchange. The Lounge is a flexible, inclusive space where faculty, students, and visitors can meet casually, host drop-in conversations, or engage in spontaneous collaborations for teaching, research, creative, or community.
